The only active synagogue in Jurmala In the city of Jurmala since the Second World War there has not been a single active synagogue. And here with a great joy: at the address of Bulduru prospekts 33, at the end of August 2018, the only functioning synagogue in Jurmala opened. The “Beit Israel” synagogue is located on the first floor of a private house, where Vice-President of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, Emanuel Grinshpun dedicated it to the memory of his father Israel ben Meir a-Cohen Grinshpun. For the new synagogue a Torah scroll was specially written, antique furniture and chandeliers were restored by special order, and new furniture was made. Shimon Kutnovsky-Liak became the rabbi of the Jurmala synagogue.
