The Masorti Jewish Community Bet-El (in Hebrew, house of G-d), began its activities in 1991 with the aim of providing a cultural and religious service within the line of the Masorti – conservative movement and the Ashkenazi tradition. At that time, we began holding Kabalat Shabbat services in the homes of congregants.
Since 2004, we have had a site where a large part of our activities take place. Our religious services follow most of the traditional framework with something distinctive and key: the place of women, who have an equal status with men.
The study of texts, through reflection and discussion, occupies a prominent place. The classes that are taught are carried out in an open and plural framework. Hebrew is the liturgical language of the vast majority of prayers, but translation and phonetics are available so that all people can follow the service.
The celebration of weddings, Bar and Bat Mitzvah are great milestones in our Community, we also have spaces for formal and non-formal education for boys and girls.
Today more than 120 families from Madrid and surroundings participate in our activities.
