The Origins of October 7th: Looking Back at the 1929 Hebron Massacre
Organised by
TribeTelAviv
Join Einat Wilf, author of the War of Return, and Yardena Schwartz, author of Ghosts of a Holy War, for an illuminating conversation surrounding the hidden roots and long-overlooked history of this conflict, which continues to go overlooked in much of today's discourse.
One century before Hamas's massacre, the ancient Jewish community of Hebron suffered a pogrom that was a haunting preview of October 7, 2023. The causes of the 1929 pogrom and its aftershocks continue to reverberate today. The incitement and disinformation that led to and followed the riots of 1929 have since joined forces with the war for the right of return, making the prospects for peace ever more elusive.
