SHIUR goes to Portugal: HAVDALAH FIRE RITUAL (Kabbalistic text based discourse)

Havdalah is the Jewish fire ritual marking the transition from the sacred utopia of Shabbat to the "regular" weekday of the secular world, with the intention to "upgrade" weekday life to retain the sacred, even in the mundane. How can we bring those rare, fleeting ecstatic and utopian moments experienced in spiritual and ecstatic settings to normal weekday life? Can we reveal the sacred in the profane? Can the ancient Havdalah fire ritual offer us an effective way to integrate those moments of expanded consciousness into our “workday” lives? Participants will experience an immersive, multi-sensory Havdalah involving text based discourse, rituals, and more… About SHIUR: The word SHIUR in Hebrew can mean “text based lesson” or “measurement” and is related to the Hebrew word sha’ar or “gate.” We like the multiplicity of connotations that SHIUR has, and we’re also measuring, assessing, entering gates, and reconfiguring how we interpret our world. There’s a whole literary-philosophical-artistic-architectural-spiritual heritage that’s just waiting to be re-examined, challenged, and critically interpreted. Through specially curated experiences, weekly newsletters and virtual SHIURim, we engage and experience art, architecture,space, text, music, sound, body, mind, theory and whatever else the times offer us.   About SOULINGUA: Soulingua builds bridges between the intellect and the actual felt experience that is created through connecting with ancient scriptures.
