About the Talk:
As the Western world’s first female head of state, Golda was Israel’s iron-willed leader, chain-smoking political operative, tea-and-cake serving grandmother and its fourth prime minister. As an olah to Israel, she brought fiery oratory, plainspoken appeals and shrewd decision-making to the cause to which she dedicated her life – the welfare and security of the State of Israel and its people. She is the subject of a just released feature movie starring Helen Mirren
About Our Speaker:
Dr. Tuvia Book is an author and licensed tour guide, and was raised in both the UK and South Africa. Tuvia holds a PhD in Jewish education and is the author (and illustrator) of Moral Dilemmas of the Modern Israeli Soldier, For the Sake of Zion; A Curriculum of Israel Studies, and newly released Jewish Journeys: The Second Temple Period to the Bar-Kochba Revolt.
After making Aliyah at the age of 17, and studying in Yeshiva, he volunteered to serve as a Combat Medic in the elite Givati Brigade as a "Lone Soldier," currently servies on reserve duty (milluim). He has been in some of the major conflict zones of the last two decades including Lebanon, and Gaza. He served as the Information Officer at the Israeli Consulate of Philadelphia, and as a Shaliach (emissary) for the Jewish Agency for Israel as the Director of Israel and Zionist Education in New York. He is a much sought after public speaker and tour guide, leading hundreds of groups from foreign dignitaries to Birthright groups.
